My client will be celebrating their 10th anniversary of a diaper product in the market very soon. They want to promote the product by giving free samples to mothers and doing demo’s in hospitals, etc. Any additional ideas for this kind of campaign?

provide 10 accessories that go along with diapers and changing them – ie. wipes, powder, odourless waste cans, etc, etc. Partner with those companies to share the costs.
Well, your target market is obviously going to be new mothers, so do some research. Put yourself in their shoes and start thinking of some adjectives that describe them (ex: busy, tired, flustered, happy). Take a survey of friends and family (yourself included, if the situation applies) and ask them how they generally felt during the first few years of their child’s life. Ask them if there is anything that would have helped them or that they would have been grateful to recieve.
One thing that your client should truly be focused on is creating a positive image of their product.
Obviously receiving samples of the product will put your client’s name in the new mothers heads, but what about after they leave the hospital? How will they remember the product then?
I agree with the person who said you need to spend money to make money. Coupons are a great idea and if you can find local businesses to pair with for the promotion, that’s great. Consider giving the new mom’s a gift that they will not only appreciate at the time, but that they can use in the future.
Here are just a couple examples off the top of my head:
-Refillable bandage dispenser with kid friendly band-aids.
-Express Mom’s First Aid Kit
-Water bottle with a carabiner, so that it can easily be attached to a diaper bag.
-Baby Bath Thermometer
-Tupperware for kid-friendly snacks (Cheerios, ect)
-Small inexpensive diaper bag
-Picture frames
These are all simple promotional items that can be imprinted with your clients name and logo. The mom’s will appreciate the gifts and will be reminded of your client, every time they use them.
You don’t state what the diaper product is, for obvious reasons, but it makes it difficult to make recommendations on an unknown.
Bundle it with information as to why this product is better than any other that may be equal to it in the market, along with that bundle in various money off coupons for this product as well as other more commonly used related products that would be of interest to those getting your samples.
There is a lot of truth in the old addage that you have to spend money to make money. You may have to give away a lot of prduct to make and impression and to increase sales.
Other things to give away would be unrelated items with your product name and logo on it. Memory sticks are very cheap now. They don’t have to be 2 or 4 gig, but you can buy, retail even, packs of 4 or 5 half gig memory sticks for next to nothing, I’m sure someone out there can give you a package deal with your product name and logo. You need to contact the manufacturer of one of these products, it’s good advertising for them as well.
Any number of these ideas would be helpful, maybe even pacifiers with your product name and logo, you get the idea, it can go on and on.
Good luck.
how will they advertise the free samples? Have you thought about sending it to be featured on specialized free sample sites like http://www.sampleaday.com . I would focus on finding mailing lists of new babies and expecting mothers. The earlier you get them the better! That way hopefully they will stick toy the brand.
I think the hospital idea is good!
