I dont really know what is wrong with my 2 month old but he is gassy a lot and cries frequently. I have him on gentle parents choice right now. i thoroughly burp him and try to work out the gas. im gonna try a new formula and have tried lacto free jsut today. i am hoping for results since its easier to digest, but he isnt lacto intolerant.

My daughter was gassy a lot when I was BFing and formula feeding, and we had good success with Enfamil gentlease. Although, I started exclusively breastfeeding (was only using formula because she was having a hard time breastfeeding) and that seemed to help more than anything, so I’m not totally sure if it was the formula change or not. I’ve heard that you don’t have to wait very long to see if a formula will work, that if it won’t, you’ll know it in a matter of days and you’re ok to try something else. A lot of people told me you have to wait weeks, but I read that isn’t true. It might be easier to digest since the sugars are broken down. You could try “bicycling” his legs…lay him on his back and move his legs like he’s riding a bike, helps to work out the gas. Or you could put him on his belly across your legs (my daughter hates this, but it does work out the gas sometimes). Another thing we’ve had success with are the gas drops Cocyntal. They are homeopathic, reasonably priced and seem to work within 10 minutes to calm her down. Good luck!
Oh, also, have you tried Dr. Browns bottles with preemie nipples? That was recommended to me, as my baby would swallow milk waaay too fast out of the bottle, and the bottles plus the nipples helped a lot.
We switched our son to the Enfamil lactose free after months of screaming and general fussiness. we first tried the hypo allergenic formula, but it’s wayyy to expensive, and it dawned on me that since I’m lactose intolerant, maybe that’s all his problem is to. Thanks to my mom pointing that one out. Mommy brain after 3 months of crying can take it’s tole on u!!!
After 1 bottle of the lactose free, he was a different baby. Same thing with the hypoallergenic, but much cheaper. I hope it works for you, just bring it up to your doctor, but they won’t care as long as the baby is happier. They may suggest trying regular formula around 6 months to see if the problem has gone away, but I’ll just keep giving mine the lactose free, its the same price as the other stuff, and it works!!
BTW he’s 7 months now, and has moved on to teething pain, so from one to the other!!!
Good Luck!!
I have just tried a lacto free formula a few days ago..My baby still has gas but she doesnt spit up as much, seems to be holding it down better but we’ll see. She only gets 5-8 oz of formula a day though so I cant go on much.
