Bisphenol A (bpa) Free Baby Products? (pumps, Formulas, Etc)?
Ok, I’m, not here to debate whether Bisphenol A is safe or not. I’ve read about it, and I know that I’d like our baby to avoid it as much as possible, if not completely, after she’s born.
Are there lists out there of BPA free products? What brands do you folks use? I’m mainly interested in finding alternatives to pumps and formulas at this point. I’ve found a few brands of bottles that are BPA free, but what about baby toys? Thank you!

No problem! I will be pumping with playtex (or other brand) drop-ins. All of the “liner” type storage bags are BPA free and are disposable so there’s no cleaning, they lat flat in the freezer, and are so much easier to thaw out. I’m not sure about pumps, but given the amount of time the milk actually touches the pump, I would think you’d be okay. Good luck!
I suggest you go back and reread some of the things that you have already read. BPA is a chemical that is found in hard plastics, and has been shown to leach out of the plastic if exposed to high temperatures. Remember that this also goes for any water bottles or hard plastic tupper ware typeo you really want an alternative to BPA free FORMULA? Maybe I’m missing something, but how can a chemical that is processed into plastic be present in formula?
From a website advocating BPA free products, BPA is described as follows: “Bisphenol-A is a hormone-disrupting chemical considered to be potentially harmful to human health and the environment. It has been known that scratched and worn polycarbonate feeding bottles will leach this chemical into liquids.” http://www.bisphenolafree.org/
Analyze that with me… potentially harmful… This doesn’t mean that it does cause any harm, just that it possibly could. Also note that it says that BPA comes from SCRATCHED and WORN poly bottles. Don’t let your bottles wear out, and you don’t need to worry about it.
Really you will be pretty safe with not microwaving or sterilizing bottles (hot water and dish soap are fine). Also, unless you plan on putting plastic baby toys in the dish washer dry cycle, or in the microwave, you’re going to be fine. Good luck in your searching.
For baby toys, I found some new “Earth Friendly” toys by Sassy at Babies R Us, they are oldfashion wood toys. I didn’t buy any cause right now my son has too much and is already 9 mos. I would have though, and they are little more expensive. As far as pumps supplies, someone posted here on day that the disposable liners are all BPA free. I guess look in to that, then you need not worry.
I just found a link that says Medala claims there products are BPA free.
