Breastfeedin Moms: Do You Find It Easy Or Relaxing At All?

I have breastfeed my 1 month old since she was born, but it’s really hard, painfull, & not enjoyable! Is there something I can do to stop it from hurting so much? She seems to have a good latch, so I don’t know what it could be..I really want to continue breastfeeding because it’s better for my baby (and free) than formula.
Do you have any ideas for me?

Just keep going. I’d say that it was painful for the first month or so, but probably didn’t become relaxing and enjoyable until my daughter was at least 3 months of age.
Now the problem I have is figuring out how to wean. She’s 18 months old and I’m not sure how to cut out the two feeds a day that we still have. It’s kind of a nice mommy/daughter time for both of us.
I don’t have any suggestions, but just wanted to tell you that it does get better after the first couple of months. It has been both easy and enjoyable for a long time, now (11 months out), but was painful in the beginning for me. If you have concerns, try to find a local lactation consultant who can evaluate the baby’s latch and provide suggestions. Good luck!
My suggestion is go to la leche league’s website and look up your nearest group and leader. Call the leader. She can personally help you with questions and advice. And you can go to the meetings which is great for advice and support as well.
We can’t really tell via Internet if your latch is a problem, but I’m guessing that’s what it is. A la leche leader will be able to tell you. And it’s free, they are volunteers. My son is almost 6 weeks old and he is very lazy about latching right. And if I don’t stay persistant and make him latch right every time, he won’t and it will start to hurt and get sore. And I’m not even new at this, I nursed my last kid for 2 years. Some babies are just bad latchers.
You could also contact WIC because they can tell you where to find a lactation consultant. Or the hospital you delivered at should have one you can speak to if you call.
I wish I could offer more advice than this. But it’s hard to give good bf advice without being face to face.
Same boat as you. I do enjoy it some days because it doesnt hurt, but others it is painful all day. A lot of people I know said it hurt for them so it might be how sensitive we are maybe its painful because of that even though I know its supposed to be painless.. But so far I think I am about 50/50 on it! Just keep trying and dont give up at least pump if you cant take her on the breast so she still will get the benefits of the breast milk!
No I didn’t enjoy it at all, not because it was painful but for some reason as soon as the baby latched on, I wanted to fall asleep. Not just getting drowzy , but literally almost dropping my baby because my arms were too tired, couldn’t keep my eyes open.
It was instantly, I hated it.
Can you talk to a lactation consultant about it?
By the time my son was a month old it had begun to get easier and now I find it really relaxing and easy to nurse him. It’s one of the best parts about it.
Hang in there!
