There are a number of programs for free or discounted baby supplies, depending on your location and your income.
WIC
The WIC program can provide your baby with free formula, infant juice and infant cereal at the appropriate ages. However, the WIC program heavily encourages breastfeeding and breastfeeding is truely best for your baby. It is also free. If you choose to breast feed your baby, WIC can provide you with free breast pumps, slings and more. For specific programs contact your local WIC office. WIC also has some income eligibility guidelines. Your total family income must be at or below 185% of the federal poverty guidelines. There are certain circumstances, however, where you may still get WIC if you are over the income limits such as if you recieve state funded medicaid or your child does which is usually cut off at about the 200% of the poverty mark. Follow this link for more information about WIC: http://www.fns.usda.gov/wic/howtoapply/
You can also get other foods such as milk, cheese and peanut butter if you are pregnant or nursing.
As for other programs, I would encourage you to contact your local job and family services and they can refer you to whatever programs may be availible.
There are also a variety of promotions that will allow you to get a limited amount of sample packs. The best thing to do would be to go to a search engine like Yahoo! or Google and do a search like for “free diapers”.
