VASELINE!
That was the best thing for my son when things like that happened. He got a bad case of diarrhea once and got a red sore bum from it. I tried Desitin cream, but it just didn't work that well and it was much more expensive than vaseline.
Just put a good layer on his butt, it will stay on good and wipes off fairly easily with the warm wet cloth. I also used cornstarch instead of baby powder in addition to the vaseline in the beginning.... for extra comfort.
I hope i helped some, and i hope your little boy is feeling better soon!!

Try using Flander's buttocks cream it looks nasty and smells kinda bad but trust me it really works
Flanders Buttocks Ointment is a product which aids in the treatment and prevention of diaper rash. It provides a physical barrier against the contact of urine and feces with an infant's skin. This barrier helps to prevent the occurrence of diaper rash, as well as reduce the pain and itching of an existing case. Flanders Buttocks Ointment also aids in the management of diarrhea-induced diaper rash, which may be caused by very acidic diarrhea when many of today's antibiotics are used.
hope this helps

Go back to the dr and ask for Aquaphor w/20%Cholestyramine. The Cholestyramine is a stomach medicine that eats the acid off the skin. My son had horrible bouts with diarrhea and was developing blisters from the diarrhea. His was so bad we were changing his diapers every hour and each time using a thick layer of desitin. I asked his dr if there was anything different we should use or try and he gave me a prescription for the stuff above. It has to be compounded at a compounding pharmacy and is pretty expensive, but well worth it. It started working by the next diaper change and within 24 hrs it was completely gone.

We swear by Gold Bond baby powder. It has zinc oxide, which is what they use in diaper creams. A few sprinkles of that and the redness should clear up overnight (at least that's how it works with our babies).
Be careful though. Do NOT use normal adult Gold Bond medicated powder. That has a whole different set of active ingredients and the menthol, while you may experience a pleasant cooling sensation, will burn the bananas off your baby. Trust me, my husband tried this with our eldest when he was 2 and he cried. LOL

I have used triple paste...it really works great. I've heard aquaphor is better but havent tried it. You are doing everything else right: no wipes, airing out her bottom. Good luck!

my son only gets diaper rash from antibiotics if he has an ear infection. If desitin doesn't work for me I use some cornstarch and it works everytime.

A warm washcloth like you're using and Vaseline petroleum jelly are best. The jelly coats his skin, keeping any wetness away from his rash. There are many topicals available, but I've found the pure petroleum jelly to work best.

seems the doctor should have done something about the diarrhea AND the diaper rash. we always used desitin, but it had the zinc. i hope that one of the things in the rash cream isn't making the rash worse, which is possible. keep doing what you are doing. should be gone as soon as the diarrhea is gone. lots of fluid with that.poor little fella. i sure feel awful for both of you.
