go to the company websites of baby items… gerber.com, huggies.com, pampers.com, luvs.com, stuff like that.
when you sign up they send you coupons and samples in the mail.
beech nut baby food has a program that if you send them 48 babyfood labels they send you extra coupons in the mail.
http://www.craigslist.com has free stuff all the time. It is yard sale season you know. I go and get stuff by the box. Sometimes when you do that they charge less. Research the thrift stores in your area. If you have a Value Village they charge half off every other day. Churches are a great resource for baby stuff too. If you are part of the congregation or know someone who is they might help. There are several community organizations in every city to help with low income families. Ask at a local clinic, WIC station, or child care center. Just remember when buying boy stuff get one size bigger than you need and everything else they have. I have four boys and, it is very hard to get boy stuff most of the time.
Go to your local thrift stores. You can find plenty of baby items that are gently used for great prices. Try Once Upon a Child. Also look at Craigslist.com or Freecycle.com. Pampers and Huggies are good sites as well, you will get coupons. Check out any garage/yard sales. There may also be local churches or shelters that would be willing to help out. It’s a little harder working on a budget but you can find things for relatively inexpensive prices, you just have to be smart with your money.
If money is tight then I suggest getting onto a program such as WIC. It will help with formula and things like that.
In addition to checking out the sites that others have pointed out, you should realize that a lot of the “stuff” that people get is not really needed.
You don’t need a crib. If you follow safety guidelines you can co-sleep with your baby. You don’t need a fancy stroller/travel system. You can get a simple sling instead (a lot of them are expensive, but you can get used ones cheap or free at http://www.thebabywearer.com in the forums).
Check with your local WIC office. They should be able to inform you of local programs that may be of help to you. Also if you are recieving any state assistance I would check with your case worker, she may be able to give you some suggestions. Also for Carseats, check with the hospital you are delivering at or even the local fire department, they sometimes have programs to provide low income families with carseats for their new infants. Good luck!
try craigslist.com theres a section that people post free stuff
also try calling your local WIC office they provide free formula and food for mommy while she is pregnant/or nursing.
from what i heard the red cross gives blankets, diapers, and baby clothing.
if your are in dying need try your local county office for more resources…
im not sure if its just a law in california but we couldnt leave the hospital without a carseat.. but some will provide one
I know that you can write to Graco and ask them for help. They do give free things away including car seats and strollers. Try calling your local Wic office. They can even give you phone numbers to local organizations that help families. No shame in asking for help. I’m sure you’ve worked hard in your life, now it’s time to see if someone can help you. Won’t hurt to ask.
iam sorry but i dont know of free stuff, but there is a place here in cananda called once upon a child and it has very god quality baby stuff. or there is also a cnadian site called kijiji.com where local people sell their used baby stuff, mostly very cheap prices.
I got most of my stuff off of craigslist.org, but there is also a yahoo group called “Freecycle” and I get SO many things on there! I have seen cribs, strollers, formula, you name it. You can post “wanted” items which makes it easy for people to contact you if they have what you need. It is awesome!!
What kinds of baby stuff? I know I just got a Gerber stroller at a thrift store for 5 dollars, and a….high chair for 7 dollars, and 9 bottles (the drop in kind with lids and caps) for 2 dollars. So that’s 14 dollars, they had lots of other stuff too.

I don’t know of any sites, but you could check with local churches or charities or even on craigslist. Also, there may be a local Moms Club that will help new mothers. Good Luck.
