How Can I Get Help Buying My Babies Formula?
Well i am on wic but they don’t provide Similac only enfamil but i tried giving her the regular enfamil lipil but they changed it in the hospital due to a lactose concern to lactose free but that formula has been discontinued and no store has it so i tried gentle ease and she spits up way to much with that one so i found the perfect formula and unfortunately wic doesn’t provide it. So being that im unemployed and my husband doesn’t make enough too buy her formula and pay the bills we applied for food stamps even do i didn’t want to but since we live at his mom house she make too much money for us to qualify because were 21 we have to put her income in our case and im just so frustrated cuz we have to pay rent and utility bill anybody know how else to get help in California

actually when you apply for food stamps you do not have to include your MIL’s income if you pay rent. unless you all sleep in the same room of the house then you are considered as 2 separate households. have your MIL find a rent agreement (you can print one online) and date it back to when you guys first started paying her rent.
anyway another way is to go ahead and get your formula with WIC (at walmart) and return it asking to exchange it bc your husband bought the wrong one and he lost the receipt. don’t bring the receipt and they will let you exchange it for the same dollar amount of any brand. i know this may sound somewhat dishonest but no one is really losing money and you have to do what you have to do for your baby
.
I don’t know anything about WIC or food stamps, but pretty much any formula you can go on their website and sign up for coupons to help out. Good Start gives some pretty big ones. Most of them send the coupons monthly and then once they get older they might include coupons for some other stuff too!
If you have to pay rent where you live then you wouldnt need to provide your MIL’s income when applying for food stamps. The only problem with this is your MIL might have to claim your rent as additional income on her taxes (at least in Canada she would…but we dont have WIC here) So I dont know how you want to work that one out.
If you live with his mom, list her as your landlord. Do you pay her rent? Help with bills? Then she’s a landlord. Also, I believe if you get a note or prescription from your daughter’s doctor stating she medically needs a special formula, WIC or Human Services should still be able to help you in some way.
I don’t really want to advertise this on the web it will kinda screw me however even though it says i’m unavailable i am open for im or email always pretty much do so and i will tell you how to get this i had the same prob with my son

if the enfamil lipil is what she needs just ask her pediatrician to write a prescription for the enfamil lipil and the dr needs to include the reasons why she needs it and then you take it into the wic office and they will get the prescription approved by the state
Talk to your doctor. If you have a prescription from your doctor (and considering what you’re saying I think you would be able to get one) you’ll be able to take that to your WIC provider and they’ll adjust things for that.
Add: To another poster’s suggestion of buying one and exchanging it for another… no. Wal-mart has strict rules about WIC and exchanges and will give him a hard time if he tries to exchange or return Enfamil for something else, unless he has a receipt to prove he bought it there. My hubby works at Wal-mart and we’ve had that issue in the past. You have to do an exchange for the same formula you got, or they will make a problem.
In Iowa, if your doctor will provide a prescription (note) saying that your baby needs a certain formula then WIC will provide it. I know that WIC is different in every state but definitely something to find out!! Good luck!
Get a note from your doctor about the formula as far as the foodstamps go you need to go back and re-apply. You shouldn’t have to count her if you are paying her to live there. That is what I was told. You are essentially “renting a room” and you don’t have to count her. Also have you tried SOY? I would like to mention as well that spit up isn’t a huge concern. My son frequently spit up but gained normal weight. His doctor said that as long as he was gaining weight the spit up wasn’t a huge concern at all. Some babies just spit up a lot. Also this can be due to reflux and not the formula so check all your options. Good luck.
