advance and also lactose free formula (recommended by her paediatrician), however she is still suffering from severe gas. I have tried using Mylicon and gripe water, which gives her temporary relief. Any suggestions for soy based and rice based milk, which would be better for her ? I want to stop breast feeding in a month.

WHy give up breastfeeding now? You are halfway to what the AAP reccomends for all infants!
i have the same issues with my 9 week old thought i do not breast feed we tried it but he did not latch on. my sons doctor gave him gavscion. my son has gerd and a lactose sensitivity
your baby might have the same problem have her doctor look into this my son is on good start soy i know have to add rice cereal to every bottle and he know has to have gavscion before every bottle. there are many formulas out there for different feeding needs look into them. seen how she has feeding problems the formula wont be cheap any more if you don’t have wic know might be a good time to get if you qualify which you might with a sick baby. i get wic and just 6 cans of the soy is $40 +.
When you are breastfeeding you really need to watch you are eating, because what ever you eat or drink, that is what the baby gets, i was a coffee drinker at night and my baby would be up all night because of the coffee i drank. try to avoid spicy and hot foods, and we how that goes. good luck
Maybe you should take her to a different pediatrician. Sometimes you have to go thru a few to get it right but if the best this one has is she may be lactose intolerant, I’d keep it moving.
First, do NOT give rice based formula. It doesn’t give *any* nutrition. Talk to the doctor again, and see if they think soy formula will help. Also, some babies (for some reason) have problems with formulas that have DHA and ARA, so maybe trying a formula that doesn’t include those might help.
Is she gassy when she doesn’t have formula? The answer seems obvious to me–she can’t tolerate formula. I wonder why you would want to quit breastfeeding when formula is so upsetting? Whatever your concern with continued nursing is, there is a solution, you just have to find the proper support! La leche League is wonderful, and there are other great support groups out there. Lactation consultants know of all the meetings in your area.
My son had a severe gas problem bc of formula….nothing gave him relief…and all formulas even the soy based ones gave him gas except goodstart infant soy formula. it was a huge relief for the both of us! give it a try, although your baby may be different.
How About Organic?
My son was on infamil Soy / infalac Soy and he didnt really have any issues with gas. Im not sure if your the one i suggested to use gripe water but i do have to say that its only a temporary thing. I havent herd of any rice base milk ( but i was told that if your baby has gas to stay away from rice because it will constipated him/her )
You can also try looking at this website http://www.sacredwindow.com/Articles-Hap…
don’t give her soy, it can mess up her fertility and make her slow in learning…you may hear otherwise but it’s not going to hurt her to not have soy…have you watched what you are eating…when i breastfed and ate peanut butter it made my son so sick. But try getting organic gripe water, i get mines from an arab store and the only ingredients is two things.
How would you feel about exclusively pumping?
