I Heard That When A Baby Turns 1, Then You Should Not Give Him Formula Anymore, But Switch To Milk.?

What if I continue to give my baby formula for a little while after she turns 1? I don’t like giving her the lactose in milk, so I’ve been giving her the lactose free formula. I guess that I can also give her lactose free milk or soymilk now, right? She’ll turn one on Aug. 30.

It is not written in stone that you need to switch right away. We did a gradual transition with my daughter and plan to do the same with my son. By 14 months though, my daughter was drinking all cows milk. Do a slow transition to milk (unless she has an allergy, milk will be fine.) Start by gradually decreasing the formula and increasing the milk in her bottle. You could keep her on formula for a few more months, no harm in it.
It won’t hurt any to keep giving her the formula. It’s that by 1 the child gets most of their nutrition from regular food, so formula can be a bit much.
When children are having issues with food and weight, Dr’s have recommended leaving them on formula for a bit longer.
You certainly can go with lactose free milk or soy milk. Their bodies don’t change the second they turn 1. You can start giving it to her now if you’d like.
That’s just because milk is cheaper than formula. You’re just suppose to wean them off the bottle, doesn’t matter what’s in it.
That’s what I am planning on doing when my son turns one next month.
