Is It Ethical To Accept Free Things From People, Then Donate Them For Tax Deduction?

People keep giving me baby stuff and our baby doesn’t need anything, but I accept it to be polite then turn around and donate it for the tax deduction. Is this bad?

I don’t think it’s bad at all. It’s bad if you dump them, or don’t use them. But you are donating the gifts to, presumably, others in need.
When I give gifts, the biggest annoyance I get is when the recipient does not use it at all. I would prefer that somebody uses it. And, you are still getting something out of it (a tax deduction).
No, this isn’t bad at all. There’s really no point in keeping things your baby has no use for.
These gifts have already been given to your baby =) Accepting them is a good move because some people can become unusually upset if their gifts are being rejected even for good reasons.
If these things are not useful and they clutter your house, donating them to those who need them more is a good way of getting rid of them as opposed to just dumping them. Receiving a tax deduction as a result… That’s just awesome!
No, it’s resourceful, my ex still buys me loads of clothes and claims them off his tax so he actually ends up making a profit, he’s self employed and works outdoors so it doesnt look sneaky either. Don’t worry about it, I’d do exactly the same thing in your situation.
