Light Bleeding In Diaper Area?
I just have a quick question. I’m a daycare provider and the 13 month old I take care of has a bit of blood in between her anus and vagina area. By no means is it flowing rapidly, it’s like several pin pricks of blood, I wiped it clean as she had a dirty diaper, and it didn’t seem to bother her or irritate her. But the blood pooled right back up to the surface.
I have two daughters myself and I have never had anything like that happen to them. Could it be from a diaper rash or is it a diaper rash? I informed her mother immediately and she’s going to check it out when she picks her up later. I just wanted to see if anyone else experienced this and if you have any advise to treat it.
I’ve mentioned that letting her roam diaper free should speed the healing process, but other than that and very frequent changes, should we do anything else? and of course I reccommended she be looked at by a doctor.
Thanks for the advise!

My daughter is extremely sensitive in that area and gets that almost every time she has a bowel movement. The doctor said that it’s just a diaper rash. I usually goes away by the next day.
Weird, she definitely needs to be seen by a doctor. If the mom doesn’t take her straight away, require that she does before she can return to daycare. You never know what could be contagious.
It’s probably an anal fissure. It happens when they have a bowel movement it tears a little bit. It is harmless. As long as it is only a little bit that is what it probably is.
RASH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF the child is not being abused A RASH.
Tell her mother.
Maybe it is coming from her behind a tear from hard stool? I dunno but if that was my kid I would have raced home from work!! Keep it logged in case something else comes up..
Fissures are cracks in the anus caused from large, or hard to pass BM. It should clear up. It’s like a sore and every time they have a BM it irritates it. It should clear up in about a month, if not you should strongly suggest she get it seen about.
You did the right thing. As a daycare worker you are on the front line when it comes to detecting possible cases of child abuse and it is your duty to report it immediately, though I think you are supposed to report child abuse to the law. This is probably nothing other than, as you say, diaper rash, but it’s best to have it looked at by a doctor. If you don’t mention (report) things like that, you may end up being a suspect in God knows what.
Hmm, without actually seeing the location it is hard to determine what it could be. If she passed a bowel movement it could be a slight tear from them, but from what you have described it doesn’t sound as if that is the case. I suggest using an ointment like A&D in order to help kill off any bacteria or something like that. It doesn’t sound like diaper rash if she hasn’t had a really bad diaper rash for a few days. A quick check by the pediatrician is my recommendation. Keep it clean and dry besides the ointment and give her plenty of fluids to make sure she keeps hydrated.
sounds like it could be a diaper rash or maybe she was straining while trying to poop that could have done it too, I would tell the mom to get it looked at just in case, and just to be safe I would have the mom look at it in front of you and make up some sort of document of what you saw and that the mom did in fact see it and have her sign it just to be safe.
