Moms, A Few Various Questions About Your Toddlers?
these are just random things i’ve always been curious about.
1. what do you usually dress your toddler in and why? (sweats, wind suits, dresses, jeans ect.)
2. How long did you use onesis for?
3. How long did you use bibs and put your child in the high chair for meals?
4. How much stuff do you take along to the grocery store and why? (diaper bag, purse, cup ect) and what do you take inside and what stays in the car?
I am particularly interested in number 4. I finally have a working car so my 17 month old son and I will be doing the majority of errands and shopping alone together. Before now, my fiance would take the bags inside (diaper bag and purse) and I would carry our son since we went to do all these things together on saturdays since he had the only working car. Well i have no problem carrying both, but i just wondered if I wouldn’t be better off putting a diaper and a travel pack of wipes in my purse (its on the large side) and taking maybe his cup in with us? But then I think well what if he pees through his clothes or something and needs totally changed? I can’t leave him inside while i run out, and i can’t very well take my wet and unhappy toddler out in the cold and wind and abandon our full cart inside. s oi figure i may as well take it all in. but i’m just curious to see what other mothers think and what they do?
please answer all of my questions above, but particulary give any advice on what you do with your toddlers things and how you make grocery shopping and running errands with a little one as stress free and comfy as possible.
thank you!

1. what do you usually dress your toddler in and why? (sweats, wind suits, dresses, jeans ect.)
Usually jeans and some short of shirt, plus a sweater, jacket and other out-door clothes.
2. How long did you use onesis for?
still use them and still love them, my son is now 2.
3. How long did you use bibs and put your child in the high chair for meals?
Still us them at age two.
4. How much stuff do you take along to the grocery store and why? (diaper bag, purse, cup ect) and what do you take inside and what stays in the car?
I have an emergency bag in the car, it contains: Diapers, wipes, and a sweat suit i dont like very much but is necessary for pee-outs, etc… I also always keep snacks and some books next to his car seat. That way I only have to remember my child and my wallet for short trips to the store or bank.
1. I dressed my toddlers for the weather when outdoors.. When indoors they wore lighter clothes both summer and winter, things they could easily remove themselves to facilitate toileting… and take only the minimum into the store with you…
2. Until about 14 months after that it was a “Snap war” with them unfastening the snaps as fast as I could fasten them making the change to regular tees far less work and battle for all of us…
3. With my daughters I used bib until about age 2 when they were able to control their spoons pretty well and the mess was minimal… With my son I abandoned the bib and resorted to stripping him to a diaper for meals, the bib wasn’t effective in containing his mess at all… I used a high chair until they were able to sit in a regular chair without constant worries of toppling out about age 2.5…
4. Pack a full diaper bag
You are going to the store not on a month long excursion to the wilds of nowhere…. Leave the bulk of your provisions in the car
1. what do you usually dress your toddler in and why? (sweats, wind suits, dresses, jeans ect.)
I usually dress him in jeans and little jerseys. (he will be 17 months this Feb.22) I sometimes like the kaki pants and jerseys.
2. How long did you use onesis for?
I used onesis until he was about 9 months old. I still use them (occasionally).
3. How long did you use bibs and put your child in the high chair for meals?
I used them until he started ripping them off (10 months) He doesn’t make a mess anymore really so I don’t worry too much…unless it’s spaghetti because sometime it’s ME who drops the food.
4. How much stuff do you take along to the grocery store and why? (diaper bag, purse, cup ect) and what do you take inside and what stays in the car?
I don’t take diapers into the store anymore or the diaper bag…just my son. If I go into a mall then I probably would bring the basics (1 diaper, vaseline in a tiny container bought from dollar store and a few wipes rolled up into a ziploc bag) all this stuffd into my purse. The vaseline container I bought is about the size of a 1 dollar canadian coin and about 1 cm. thick. It comes in handy.
1) Jeans and a t shirt usually.
2) I still use them occasionally, slowed down on them around 8-9 months I think.
3) She’s still in a high chair. She hated bibs so I never really used them very often. Just stripped her down to a diaper for messy meals.
4) We pack a very small diaper bag (diapers, wipes, diaper cream), one of her stuffed animals and a sippy cup. The diaper bag stays in the car though, so we just bring the cup and toy in with us. The stuffed animal helps distract her from grabbing at things on the shelves.
