If your doc says your child is healthy then great, try Enfamil AR it has rice starch in it to thicken it so it stays down better. Has your 5 month old always spit up like this or is this new? I wouldn’t continue to change formulas so often until you get a clean bill of health. If your child has reflux the doc may want to put her on medication. I gave my baby Gripewater it is natural and helps ease upset tummy, it helped my daughters colic. The thickened formula helped too. I am a little concerned for you though because my baby outgrew most of it around 3 months. You can find Gripewater at drugstore.com. Good luck
Lots of infants spit up. What looks like a lot of spit up may not actually be that much. Take a tablespoon of water and spill it on your counter. It looks like a lot more than it actually is. The real test is if she’s gaining weight. If so, it should be okay. My son stopped spitting up when he was about 6 or 7 months old. But, you’re the mommy and you know best! Maybe you could try feeding her smaller amounts more often. Maybe she just can’t handle so much formula in one feeding.
She may have GERD. I am happy you are taking her to the doctor. I hope it is nothing, and able to be fixed easily. Good luck to you.
It could be the way you are burping her. Contact her doctor to find out the best way to burp her. I’ve heard that the baby should be layed on their belly over your knee, and gently patted, no spitting up!
Some babies just are the type that spit up a lot. Good Start always worked for me. Enfimil and Similac were way to strong. I don’t think it’s becasue she is Lactose Intolerante. In that case I think she would be pooping more than anything. Perhaps you’ve been putting her on too many different kind of formulas, which is why her stomach is so unsettled? Maybe just stick with one for a while and she might get used to it. Other than that, maybe your doctor can help. Good luck.
There probably isn’t much difference, but Enfamil Soy worked for my daughter.
You might want to ask about acid reflex which is very common in babies. Is she fussy after eating. That could be the cause of all the spit up. I know my daughter was switched to Alimentum and it seemed to calm her down and no spit up. I would just offer your concerns to the doctor and maybe mention acid reflex.
my daughter spit up alot, and ped. told me to put a formula spoon (from the powdered formula) of plain baby rice cereal in her bottle. It helped make it less liquidy, and it stayed down.
How frequently have you been switching the formula? Did you consult your pediatrician before going to soy?
She could have GERD or some sort of reflux but she could also just be what my doc called a “happy spitter”. My son spit up ALL the time until he was about 6 or 7 months old.
As long as your daughter doesn’t look distressed or like she is in pain when she is spitting up she could be just fine and will eventually grow out of it. Choose one formula and stick to it since switching all the time can make things worse instead of better.
We had the most luck with Good Start but everyone is different!
Good luck!
