My Sons Diaper Rash Isnt Getting Any Better And Seems To Be Moving Up!? Help!?
My son stayed with my husbands mom for a weekend and had NEVER had a diaper rash! When he came home he had a very bad one! It isnt getting any better and i think its starting to hurt him (his two top teeth are coming in so i cant tell which it is!) My mom thinks it could be a bacterial infection. See we used these chlorine free diapers and since the chlorine is used to kill the bacteria… Help please!! We cant get in to see the doctor till next wednesday and we cant afford the er! He is 5 months btw! thanks

I’ve used corn starch on my son and it has helped in a matter of hours, (a day or so with a little more servere diaper rash)
Although when my son was 4 weeks old we thought he had diaper rash but it turned out to be a staph infection, which came from who knows where. He developed the same type of rash about a month and a half ago (he is now 19 months) and we learned that my son has an allergy to grass and it caused a rash in the diaper area.
I would suggest corn starch for a few days, and maybe an aveeno oatmeal bath. If that don’t clear it up, get into the dr when you can.
Hope it helps!
Theres is a powder called ‘Zeasorb’ that is great for yeasty diaper rashes….if nothing else helps, i think its yeast-based. I think I got mine at a ‘surgical supply pharmacy’
Your mom’s nuts. That is not what the chlorine is used for; it’s used to (entirely unnecessarily) bleach the diaper itself gleaming white. Anyway, does it look like this?http://images.google.ca/images?en&q=yeas…
If yes, ask a pharmacist to recommend an OTC anti-fungal cream.
Keep him bare-bottomed as much as possible — plonk him down diaperless on one of those ‘baby mats’ with waterproof backing. As for entertaining him like that, the blood drains from your hands a bit while you’re lying down next to the baby holding up a storybook, but no mind…
edit: If you already have an anti-fungal cream for yeast infections or jock itch at home, that’ll work fine for now.
i think u should bring him to a doctor, they know alot about babies, trust me….
Take him to see the chemist they should be able to help
keep him bare bottomed and put corn startch on it im a mommy and my mom told me and her mom told her and so on
Cornstarch! worked wonders for my babies!
Try this:
Change his diaper regularly. In fact, if you are able, use a clothe diaper or even let him go bare-bottom for a while. The exposure to air will be good.
After each bm or diaper change, use a wet soft towel (water only!) to gently clean the area with the rash. Then spread a thin layer of vaseline over the effected area. This will help to keep moisture away from the skin and allow it to heal. You may also want to try Desitin. Desitin is more expensive but works well.
I included a link for you to check out:
Good luck!
My little girl had a BAD diaper rash all the creams just made it worse she had it for about a week so her poor butt was raw so we put her in the bath with some baking soda and gave her the usual bath then after let her air out for awhile and before putting her diaper on we put some petroleum jelly on the rash area and it cleared up and was almost like brand new the next day! Hope i helpd! Good Luck!
Well call your doc and see if they will prescribe Nyastatin over the phone. Mine always did. Also there is a Butt paste out there. Anything thick will help keep the urine off. Poor baby! Weird I know, but my doctor also said you can use Monostat for yeast infections on them as well. Diaper rashes can easily turn into a yeast infection. Try letting him go without a diaper as much as possible, maybe put a towl under him. Anything you can find that will help confort him. Good luck!
Powder for athletes foot will fix any diaper rash.
Most diaper rashes are caused by skin irritation. Irritation can be caused by diapers that rub against the skin, fit too tightly or are left on for too long. Your baby’s skin can also be irritated by the soap used to wash cloth diapers, or by some brands of disposable diapers or baby wipes.
Plastic pants that fit over diapers raise the temperature and moisture in the diaper area. Heat, moisture and irritated skin make it easier for diaper rash to start and for germs to grow.
So you should try to keep the diaper off for him to get air or use cloth diapers for now..Try placing your baby on an open cloth diaper during nap time. Check the diaper shortly after your baby falls asleep and replace it if it’s wet. Babies often urinate right after falling asleep.
less juice and fruit due to the acid …
Don’t use creams that contain boric acid, camphor, phenol, methyl salicylate or compound of benzoin tincture.
Have you tried destin? If so and didnt work try vaseline ..the job now is try and dry it up..
This may sound weird but it works if you are breastfeeding then put some breast milk on it and it will clean up. if not try over the counter meds. or talk to your dr.
by any chance did your mother in law change the brand of diaper he maybe allergic to…
CORTAID!!! my son had a rash (because he had sensitive skin and it was caused from the wipes) .. his little butt was red and actually had a blister! I took him to his Pediatricain instantly and he said to use CORTAID cream! and lather it on!
it was cleared up within 2 applications!! best advice I was ever given. I have not been without cortaid since that day.
Please try it!! You want Cortaid CREAM and lather it on!
good luck! God bless!
The previous poster (do your own thinking) is right…it could be a yeast rash. My daughter just got her very first one last week. Her doctor prescribed Nystatin and her rash was gone within 2 days.
You might want to just call your doctor and ask for a prescription of the Nystatin. I’m sure they would call it in to your pharmacy and you could just go pick it up.
