Need Some Good Advice On The Best Bpa Free Baby Bottles.?
I have been researching endless brands of BPA free bottles because of the hazards that exist with plastic and especially reheating plastic for baby milk/formula. I have come across a few and I have read countless reviews but now I would like the advice from some other mothers that have used these bottles. Ideally I would like to have a glass bottle because the concerns with chemicals do not exist here. However my main concern is the bottle breaking or when my child gets older and like most children do, start tossing bottles around. The last thing I want is glass to be all over or a fear of them putting it in their mouth. The next type I have looked at are the BPA free plastic bottles but my main concern with these is still the plastic. Even though the BPA is not present something else harmful could be. The brands I have considered are the following:
Evenflo classic glass bottle
Dr. Browns’ glass & plastic BPA free
BornFree glass & plastic
Evenflo BPA free plastic
Playtex Ventair BPA free
Advent BPA free
Any Suggestions?

I love BornFree. They are amazing as far as not giving the baby gassy tummys.
I hate Avent bottles. They leak. Dr. Brown’s bottles have just too many parts for me.
You can use glass, but then use a silicone sleeve over it. I like the Wee*Go by Babylife.
I would go with either Born Free or Avent. I like the wide neck bottles since it promotes breast feeding more than the long neck bottles. The glass bottle do break. I bought a Born Free glass bottle and my daughter tossed it on the ground which resulted in a waste of $15.
We use evenflo glass bottles and have had no problems with them at all..
I prefer glass even to BPA free plastic..
I love being able to throw them in the dishwasher on high heat and all..

I use the Dr. Browns and love them. I haven’t used the glass ones, but i use the wide neck BPA free ones. By the way, Babies R us only sells BPA free now.
Dr. Browns are the absolute best. They’re great for reducing colic too. I swear by them.

I prefer Gerber Nuk. Yes they are BPA free.
While you are at it, you may want to see what your plumbing is made out of. You may want to pass on any thick plastic outdoor toys since this chemical can be absorbed through your skin too and is leeched out from any heat source, including the sun. PVC (which is what those white plastic pipes are made from) also contains Bisphenol A. So if you’re concerned about BPA leeching from a plastic bottle when heat is added to it, just imagine what must leech from your pipes every time you run the hot water. I find it disturbing that Bisphenol A has been a concern since the 1930s and they are just now doing something about it. Oh just stay away from polycarbonates in general! Oh and here’s hoping your baby doesn’t end up in an incubator; I’m pretty sure those are polycarbonate as well.
I use the evenflo classic glass, bpa free plastic and the gerber clear plastic ones, all of these fit onto my medela pump but the plastic ones are a lot cheaper and I pump freeze and feed from the same bottle so I need a lot of bottles (I have anywhere between 100 – 120 oz of milk in the freezer most of the time) I like the plastic ones, if they get really yucky I just toss it cause they are cheap and I don’t feel so bad if one gets broken or lost.
hey tlrhian sorry to tell you but until recently avent bottles and pumps contained BPA, only the new ones are BPA Free, so if you have any avent equipment that was purchased before april 2008 it contains BPA
I personally used Playtex Ventair BPA free, Advent BPA free and Dr. Browns’ plastic BPA free in that order. I have two kids (17months and 3yrs) My first was my son and I used the Playtex Ventair . . .I found them to have a lot of pieces to clean, which was not as effecient as I would of liked, however he had a lot of gas so they seemed to work the best for me. Once he was bigger I switched back over to the Advent because I just found them very easy to clean and very easy to store his formula in on the go.
With my daughter (knowing about the gas issue now), I bought Dr. Browns Plastic bottles. They were really nice but adventually I switched back to the Playtex and then once she was a little older to the Advent.
For the same reasons you had mentioned, I liked the plastic. I was nervous about the glass breaking. My son used to toss his bottles all the time which would of deifnitely led to a broken bottle if they were glass at some point. So I would definitely go with plastic if I were you.

Advent has been BPA free before it was popular, I would go with their system. They are easy to find at stores such as Target or Wal-Mart (although I am not a fan of Wal-Mart) and they have been around for quite a while. Kudos to you for going BPA free! No matter which brand you choose try to stay away from over heating the plastic and please do not microwave your formula or breastmilk…
