Problems With Chicken Soup Puppy Formula?
When I got Tiger(morkie) from my breeder he was feeding it Iams puppy, so i continued that for a little and he was fine, then i switched him to Chicken Soup. He started having loose stools, and i thought it was just from the food change, but he has continued the really bad smelling and loose stools, and he also passes gas all the time! I’m changing his food, but i’m not sure what i should give him. I know i should give him premium food, but isn’t Chicken Soup supposed to be good? He was okay with iams, so my vet gave me a free bag of purina pro plan. Im thinking of using it, im just not sure. I am thinking of Canidae, Innova or Royal Canin, but i dont want the same thing to happen. What should I do?

Some dogs just dont do well with some of the high quality foods. Canidae is also a great food. You can try it out with a small bag and see if you get the same thing going on. It’s going to be a hit or miss thing with the food.
I would not feed my dog Iam’s anything.
Give the Canidae a try and see how things go.
I just recently got a puppy myself and the breeder I got him from was feeding him Chicken Soup dog food. So I continued since I knew he would like it. I noticed also the loose stool and gas. But I thought “oh he’s just being a puppy”. My boyfriend has had dogs all his life and has always feed them Eukaneuba and has never had a problem. So I got that food and mixed the chicken soup stuff cause you cant change their food cold turkey like that and he has been fine ever since. So I would suggest getting another type of food and remember you have to ween him off the other food by mixing it together. Good Luck and I hope that helps you out!
Chicken Soup is a very good food, however it is too rich for some dogs/puppies,some dogs/puppies can’t handle that many protein sources and some can’t handle the duck and/or salmon in the ingredients.
One of my Danes can’t handle even the smallest amounto f duck in anything so can’t eat Chicken Soup.
I would try a food such as Canidae, Wellness, Innova, Merrick, Fromm, Solid Gold just ot name a few.
What’s a ‘morkie’? Anyway- you’re on the right track with canidae or innova.
You don’t say how long you’ve had puppy or how old puppy is.
Forget the purina…lots of fillers.
Chicken soup is made by diamond foods, and no, it’s not really a higher quality food…in fact we never sold any diamond food products where I worked.
If he’s having bad smelling, loose stools he isn’t absorbing the food right, for some reason.
Go with the better foods, and I’d say just switch it, none of that
“a little at a time” stuff.
Oh- and no overfeeding….that causes similar problems.
