I fed soy based infant formula to my 2 sons on the advice of my doctor because they had difficulty digesting regular formula as well as lactose free formula. I have now just recently read that this may have greatly damaged their reproductive health as well as their ability to reach puberty. I am really worried about this and just feel sick that my sons will not go through puberty properly or will be infertile. Any advice.

We are having to use this because our 6week old baby can’t keep down milk based or lactose free formulas. But he cries terribly, as if in pain, with almost every bowel movement. He did not do that in the hospital, but they didn’t change his formula until just before leaving.
At his 2 week check up, the doctor said that a lot of babies cry over BMs, just adjusting to having them. Neither of our other 2 children did this. That answer was fine then, but now at 6 weeks, it seems that he is crying about something more. It’s like he is crying with abdominal pain. It’s not a cry that can be comforted. He settles down after the BM is over.
I plan to record some of them with the camcorder before his next checkup to show the doctor. We aren’t first time parents freaking out over everything, and we are both in the medical field.
I have found nothing on the internet answering this and have read several articles pro and con to soy formulas. Anyone experience the same?

My 9 week old was on Isomil Soy by Similac, and I switched to Similac Sensitive (milk based, lactose free) with doc’s ok, due to him being constipated and trying everything form Karo to juice to help it on soy. He is pooping fine now that I made the switch, but is very irritable and I noticed little clusters of bumps on cheeks and chin. Is this an allergic reaction?

I discovered that I have a birth defect when trying to breastfeed my daughter. Apparently I don’t have enough milk glands to reach even close to enough of a milk supply. I am wondering if anyone knows of an infant formula company that uses rbgh free milk? I know all organics brands are free of growth hormone, but they’re so expensive. I will use this over regular formula, but would like to have another option. Thank you.

WIC is your answer for free formula. Go to your local health office. If you have little or no income, you will be accepted.

We just switched to Enfamil Lipil gentlease infant formula that has 1/4th the lactose than the reguglar Enfamil Lipil. Our concern is when the baby grows big and starting to have regular milk does she become lactose intolerant?

Clothes–join a freecycle.org group near you and you may find all sorts of free baby products. Diapers, you’re going to have to buy. Sometimes you’ll get samples here and there, but you’re not going to get a lifetime supply of free diapers for your baby. Babies cost money. That is why it’s important to think about that before getting pregnant. You may need a second job to prepare for your child’s needs. If you’re a single mom, you can get public aid from the IL welfare office.
