I mam buying a sewing machine tomorrow, I would like to be able to make some easy gifts for a mommy to be, and myself. my co worker and i are both pregnant. I would like to be able to make bibs, booties, hats, blankies, even a sleeper or simple clothes set. Where could I find free, easy patterns? Or even cheap ones from a craft store?

IMHO, the best gift you can give yourself is a copy of KwikSew’s Sewing for Baby, which is a combination of patterns and sewing instruction. The KwikSew books may look a little expensive, but the patterns are well drafted (which makes sewing SO much easier) and they’ll teach you some very useful skills along the way.http://kwiksew.com/Catalog/Book_Baby.cfmhttp://www.amazon.com/Kwik-Sews-Sewing-K…
(and you can move on to Sewing for Toddlers and Sewing for Children as your kids get older).
Congratulations on the soon to be new additions to the family – baby and sewing machine.
Here are lots of free patterns for the entire family (I have added this site to my list of favorites) – http://sewing.about.com/od/freeprojects/…
Simplicity patterns are $1.99 through Dec 14 at JoAnn Fabric & Crafts.
Sign up for their monthly flyer. http://www.about-joann-stores.joann.com/…
JoAnn Fabric and crafts have pattern sales all the time. You can sign up for a free brochure online for free. It takes a while to get started but they have the catalog available online as well. They offer half off and 40% off coupons in the flyer and sometimes online for you to print off. Great slaes all the time too.
Happy sewing and congrats on your new addition.

Another good idea is to make a baby quilting. You can sew them up easily on your new machine. For information about quilting, go to http://www.applquequiltdesigns.com
